Sorry for the. . . uh. . . really, really, really long absence. . . It's been Hell here. Seriously. Okay, that's an exaggeration; there have been plenty of good times, too! But yeah. Syn's been EXTREMELY busy. Like, omg-major-chaos-Hades hath risen-crazy-psycho busy. And this is why.
But first, a quick update on You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown!
As you all know, Syn was Snoopy.
AND HOLY SHIT, IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. 8D
She doesn't want to sound, y'know, arrogant or anything. . . but she stole the show. She did. The other actors told her, some people in the audience told her. . . She really doesn't like putting it bluntly like that, it feels weird. But Syn really is proud of herself. And she DID do a good job, too. :3
The best part was after the first performance, a group of little kids came up to her and talked to her, and one girl said, "When I grow up, I wanna be Sally so YOU CAN BE MY DOG!!" That made Syn laugh so hard. That girl was adorable! And Syn totally convinced our Sally's three-year-old cousin that dogs can talk. And sing. x3
So, yeah. All three nights went off amazingly. The second night was the best, though. People were still laughing when the lights came up for the scene after "Suppertime!" That was the best fucking feeling in the world. Syn thinks she may have found her other calling--theatre, specifically that of the musical kind.
ANYWAYS. As for why she's been busy. . .
We got the new teacher for Acting.
"What?" you may ask. "The new teacher?"
Yes, Syn tells you. The old one picked up and MOVED HER ENTIRE LIFE TO ENGLAND DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKING PRODUCTION. She ditched us, basically. For her English boyfriend, and a teaching position at a performing arts school. Yeah, Syn misses her, but at the same time, she's upset, because the teacher promised us a bunch of stuff and suddenly LEFT. WITHOUT ANYTHING BEING DONE. MEANING THAT THE ENTIRE PRODUCTION ALMOST FELL THROUGH.
But, what's done is done. Time passed, and in November, about a month after the original teacher left, we got a new one.
And this new teacher makes Syn question the efficiency of the person who reviews and hired people for her school.
She's not even kidding.
It is that bad.
This teacher has no fucking idea what the Hell she's doing. And this isn't an exaggeration. Seriously, Syn could write a BOOK about everything that's happened this year. Especially about what has happened with this teacher. Now, Syn is a very polite, very courteous, very patient, very kind, and very tolerant person. She tries to give people the benefit of the doubt. She tries not to judge them before actually getting to know them.
But Syn doesn't think she has EVER loathed ANYONE as much as she loathes this teacher.
See, you'd think that if you're doing something wrong, and a huge group of people tells you that they will help you or take care of whatever you're fucking up, that you would LISTEN TO THEIR SUGGESTIONS AND COMPREHEND THEM.
But, oh no, this woman will do no such thing. She seems to be oblivious to the damage that she has done to the Drama Department. Either that, or she doesn't fucking comprehend what we're telling her.
Seriously, she doesn't know the first thing about acting. Not a thing. Syn's not even kidding, it's that bad. And she's stupid. Not your regular, "I hate this teacher, so that makes her stupid." No, not at all. She actually told us. . .
That the Irish immigrated to America in the late 1700's, when they were suffering from a great famine. And that "they sailed their ships up to the continent, what do you think that they saw? Anybody? The Statue of Liberty! Think about what a sense of hope they must have been filled with seeing here standing there, welcoming them!"
Note, if you will, that the Statue of Liberty was not completed until the late 1800's. And that the great migration of other nationalities really boomed in the early-early 1900's.
The thing is, is that the teacher really freaking thought that.
That's frightening.
So yeah. . . That's just a teeny-tiny sample of what the Drama Department has had to put up with. We actually do a shitload of paperwork FOR HER. And a bunch of other things, too. It's like the more she tries to help out, the more she fucks things up.
Which is sad, because she really is a nice person.
But being nice doesn't make up for incompetence.
That being said, Syn has been running around frantically these past few months with a select few who still CARE about the Drama Department trying to keep it from collapsing. The woman is the Bubonic Plague personified. And anything having to do with theatre is being infected.
And that's why Syn hasn't been active. But she misses this place dearly! Hopefully, she can get back into the swing of things. And she says hopefully because she auditioned for another musical, Bat Boy, but put on by a community theatre, and another school play (dinner theatre), and almost had the lead female role THROWN in her face by this teacher.
So, that's all that's been going on recently. Oh, and Syn will be posting snippets of that book she wants to write, as well as art, so be on the lookout for that!
Gah. . . Syn's missed all of you! <3

Sonja misses Syn.
